Lily Eng

Lily Eng is a Chinese-Canadian performance artist, filmmaker and curator. She grew up in Blind River, a small Northern Ontario town, and moved to Toronto at age 10. After ending a brief modelling career because of the sexism and racism of the fashion industry, Eng studied dance and kung fu, which she blended to create her own performance methodology. Eng is best known for her conceptual work with Missing Associates, a performance partnership she co-founded in 1972 with writer and filmmaker Peter Dudar. She has performed in Canada and internationally, and with Missing Associates she was part of the First Canadian Performance Art Tour in 1976. Among other community engagements, Eng has sat on the board of CanAsian Arts Group and curated the Asian Eyes Film Festival.
